Recently I challenged the life group that I lead in my home to read Romans 8:1-3 and write down their thoughts on how this passage applies to Christmas. Here is the first response that I received. Thanks Stephanie!

Pastor J<>< With the Christmas season upon us, it is important to remember that it's not about buying the perfect present or whether the Christmas tree looks just right. It is not about whether we should say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. It is about our Saviour. He is the greatest gift we could ever receive. We did not deserve the ultimate gift of salvation, but it was given to us with grace. Romans 8:1-3 states: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh" During this holiday season, we need to remember to seek Him. His miraculous birth, sinless life, and death on the cross was for you and for me. He died so that we could live. So while we are checking off our Christmas shopping list, it is important to always remember that while giving presents is a great feeling, we need to take the time to celebrate His birthday. Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus! God Bless, Stephanie Mann
