Daily Walk…points to live by
I am often ask about my daily walk and quiet time. I am finding that people are interested in what I do to stay close and clean in my relationship with Jesus. So I have been thinking about how I could share my life experiences…I have decided since I love processes…I would just list some daily walking points that I try to practice and live by as I travel down life’s highway.
These are some principles and practices that I like to teach others as live and journey down the road of life. Hopefully these tried and true practices will help you as you chart your own journey.
God first-this is a no brainer. God has to be first. If we really love God, we will want to spend time with Him. If we make Him first, all of our other relationships will work out. God has to be our top priority. The bible tells us to seek first His kingdom…to seek His righteousness. The only way that we can do this is by making Him first.
Love one another-as a follower of Christ, I do not have the option to not love others. I am to hate what is evil…sin is evil because it separates me from God. I have to realize that God may be using me to bring hateful people closer to Him. We were placed here to love. We are to share the amazing grace of Jesus with those who are far from Him. We are able to love because of the love that Christ has for us. I think about the way that He loves me. I love the song that says “His love never fails…it never gives up” This song is right on, He truly never gives up on me…so I cannot give up on others. I have to love!
Never hate-Hate is another option that the sold out follower of Christ does not have the opportunity to allow into his life. Hate festers within your soul, it can cause physical and mental issues. We were not designed to hate. I have learned to never sweat the small stuff…I have learned to let go of what I cannot control. The older that I get…the more I realize that there is very little I can control. I can control my reactions to serious issues. I can hate the sin…I just cannot hate the sinner.
Give generously-We can never out give God. Believe me…trying to do this is a futile exercise. If we truly trust Him in the small things, He will bless us in the big things. Giving opens up opportunities for us to be blessed. I love to give…it requires trust. It requires me turning loose of the control that I have over my finances and resources. Giving brings us closer in our daily walk. The Bible teaches two principles in this realm…We know that without faith…it is impossible to please God. We also know that God loves a cheerful giver. Give something away today!
Live simply-What do we really need anyway. I shared this past Sunday about all of the stuff that I have in my garage. To be quite honest with you. Everything in there overwhelms me. I do not use it and I most likely never will. I learned something about the simple life years ago on a World Changers project to Franklin North Carolina. I had the privilege of working on a project for a couple name Dewitt and Lilly. These mountain folk taught me something about life by the simple way they lived. We worked on their house, the most amazing thing to me was the house had not closets. Everything they owned was out in the open. What a concept. We should learn…I am learning to de-clutter my life. I have plans for my garage and I will keep you posted. Live simply!
Forgive quickly and be kind-We are to be kind and compassionate. It is easy to be hurt by people but holding on to the hurt is not good for you. I have learned in life that hurt people…hurt people. Forgiveness is a virtue for the follower of Christ. He forgave us…in spite of us. So let go of the hurt, forgive and move on. We are to always be ready to stand up for what we believe, but we are to do it with gentleness and respect.
I hope these principles will help you. As a disclaimer, I am not a subject matter expert. I am learning along the journey…
I love you all
