I have been giving lots of thought to our church. This fall we have turned the corner and making some changes in the way we do discipleship. Our goal is to honor Christ in all that we do. So we are going to teach to transform. My goal is that every one of our members is involved in regular on going discipleship classes. We have some great options, and I want to encourage you to be involved.
I would also like to take some time to communicate to our membership the importance of SERVE teams. So I have decided to take the acrostic SERVE to describe the qualifications of a SERVE team member.
We start today with the letter S!
To serve people, you need to know how to smile. There is something about a smile that transforms people, Everyone of us has the potential to smile at those we meet and see every day. A bright grin has the potential to defuse tension. The people we have the opportunity to SERVE each week often come to us with stress and anguish. I have found that doing something like coming to a church for the first time or checking out a Point Group where you do not know anyone can be frightening. Our SERVE teams by only approaching with a smile can bring comfort to a troubled heart. Elf is one of my favorite movies of all time. Buddy the Elf understood the importance of smiling. Smiling takes practice, so I want to encourage you to stand in front of a mirror and smile! The more you practice, you will find it easy to incorporate into your life, Start today, you will be glad that you did!
I love you all!
