Looking for something fresh…

Weather is coming…

Sometimes listening to the words and phrases spoken by my “Grandmamma” was a confusing thing! As a boy I remember that she would often say a phrases like “It is going to come up a fresh” or “Weather is coming in”! I recall hearing her use this antiquated terminology on many occasions never really understanding what she or the words truly meant.
In life, the things we hear people say affect us more than we realize. I remember as a child thinking that I would never talk like my grand mother only to find my self 40 years later making statements like “Looks like some weather is moving in…” My wife recently reminded me that there is always weather around us. Sometimes it is good, and sometimes not so good! But we are always exposed to weather. As I rewrite these words I cannot help but think on how I would like to hear my grandmother make one of these statements again. She has been with Jesus along time now but I find my self thinking about her all of the time. “It is going to come up a fresh…” we sure could use something fresh today! People are searching, looking for something fresh! After a good soaking rain in Florida things are fresh and clean. Most Floridians look forward to an afternoon shower because it restores and cools, it cleans and refreshes. Wouldn’t it be nice in life that when things get overwhelming and unbearable that a “fresh” comes along and cools things off and calms things down? As a preacher of the gospel, I can clearly see that people are searching…searching for a peace that surpasses all understanding…searching for significance. My Bible teaches that “if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation” it goes on to say, “Old things pass away, and look new things have come”. Jesus is the only one who can offer you a “Fresh”! Lay it all down before Him today! By the way, it is early afternoon in Central Florida as I write this, and meteorologist just said, “Weather is coming” I love you all!
